Shawn sighted in NYT; city gripped by panic
Contributed by: Aaron
Your Mac Life's host (and library patron) Shawn King has seen his own picture in the New York Times this morning, which means we're in for six more weeks of winter.
If you have the paper (AKA analog) edition of the Times, you can see him on page C11. If you prefer the digital edition, the article and the aforementioned picture are here.

Bob Peterson writes, "I'm an Internet Consultant in Edmond, OK and have been a Mac fan since the original Mac in 1984. My first Mac that I bought was an LC (way back when). My second Mac was an original Bondi Blue iMac."
"Love the show! I listen on my iPod via Audible.com every week."
"I have an iMac G4 and a new 15" MacBook Pro that just is the best machine of any flavor (yes, I also have PCs) I've ever owned."

Send J to CT!
Contributed by: Shawn

Poor J. He's so lost....so alone...he misses his Your Mac Life family....Wednesday evenings just aren't the same....he's pining...moping even....
What...what's that, J? Oh....um....OK....
Turns out, that's how *Shawn* is feeling.....Sorry about the confusion.....
OK....now that that's cleared up....Ahem.....
Your Mac Life wants to bring J up to the new studio in CT. Not just for the camaraderie, the friendship, the good times...but also, to fix the damn sound issues Shawn seems to have screwed up so nicely. :(
While here, Your Mac Life will pic the Curtis' up at La Guardia, treat J and his lovely wife Sheila to a whirlwind tour of Downtown Westport, CT (which will take all of about 20 mins) and then drive them to the studio where YML will work J like a dog to fix the audio issues we've been experiencing since the move to CT.
Once the audio is fixed, then and only then will J be allowed back outside to enjoy all that CT has to offer - by driving into New York City to see a play and have dinner. :)
The trip is being made possible by Your Mac Life listeners like you (sounds very PBS-ish, doesn't it?). Special thanks go to these trip sponsors:
Maurice Shevalier
Thomas Hofstetter
Ian Nixon
DJ Macintosh
Rory Gillespie
Lynda Fudold

Steve Jobs
February 6, 2007
With the stunning global success of Apple’s iPod music player and iTunes online music store, some have called for Apple to “open” the digital rights management (DRM) system that Apple uses to protect its music against theft, so that music purchased from iTunes can be played on digital devices purchased from other companies, and protected music purchased from other online music stores can play on iPods. Let’s examine the current situation and how we got here, then look at three possible alternatives for the future.

The Graphic Reporter's Tip of the Week
Contributed by: Lesa
On last night's show, we finished up the how to create a sensational serigraph, a la Andy Warhol, tutorial. This week it's all about creating nice chunky blocks of color which is really a lot of fun. I challenge you all to do this effect on a photo of yourself and print it out for a loved one. It'd be a unique gift! Though this tutorial is done in Elements, the steps are the same in Photoshop. Hope you enjoy the tutorial :)
OS X QuickTip: Have you ever wanted to reclaim an inch or two of screen real estate? If so, choose to make your drive icons invisible. Click here to find out how.
Until next week, may the creative force be with you all!
